Michael Bay against the Cadillac team The debut season of the Cadillac team in Formula 1 seems destined to open with a rather particular ‘mystery’. The American team – which enters F1 this year as the 11th team – is planning a presentation show this night, via television commercial, which will take place during halftime of the Super Bowl, the NFL championship final between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. However, Rolling Stone magazine has revealed that the well-known action film director Michael Bay has filed a huge lawsuit worth 1.5 million dollars against the Cadillac team relating to the commercial that will be broadcast during the Super Bowl. The reasons for the court case Bay’s version is that he was personally recruited by Cadillac to produce the commercial, but was subsequently deceived: the team stole his ideas and then left him aside, excluding him from the project. The 19-page breach of contract and fraud lawsuit, filed Friday in Los Angeles and obtained by Rolling Stone, alleges that Dan Towriss, team owner and CEO of the Cadillac team, contacted Bay directly on Nov. 28, 2025, to design, produce and direct the team’s introductory commercial. Bay says he put other projects on hold to accept Towriss’s offer, despite the time constraints. Halfway through production, however, the unfortunate event occurred: Towriss, while Bay was carrying out the project, suddenly decided to “take a different direction” and entrust the completion of the work to someone else. The lawsuit alleges that Towriss and the Cadillac team “apparently stole Bay’s ideas and work for the commercial, without paying him.” “They planned to rip him off from the beginning. They wanted a ‘Michael Bay’ commercial but at a rock-bottom price,” the lawsuit claims. In the proceedings, Bay also includes an image of a written proposal that would be used by Towriss and his advertising agency to convince him to take the job.
