A cash prize of £500 and a trophy await the winner of the Guild of Motoring Writers Bentley Editor of the Year Award, together with a complimentary ticket to the Guild’s annual Gala Dinner in London in December.
However Guild members working as editors only have until midnight on Tuesday 30th September, less than a week’s time, to make their entry submission.
First presented in 2010 and sponsored by Bentley Motors since 2019, the award goes to the editor who demonstrates they have balanced the demands of publishers and readers while nurturing journalistic talent and successfully making the critical decisions that turn a good publication into a great one.
The judges are looking for strong leadership, innovations in the approach to editing and a keen understanding of the target audience and their requirements as well as supporting the development of their staff.
Winner of the 2024 Bentley Editor of the Year Pal Negyesi, editor of Rare & Unique Vehicles, who triumphed over two rivals shortlisted for a second year in succession, Richard Aucock of Auto Retail Profit and Tom Geggus of Autovista24.
The judges felt Pal’s application stood out, not least for the quality and consistency of his title, but also his enthusiastic commitment to the concept, while producing something totally original in a relatively saturated market.
The Bentley Editor of the Year is one of 14 different categories in the 2025 Guild of Motoring Writers Awards, with trophies and cash prizes up for grabs.
Entries must be submitted by the deadline of midnight on Tuesday, 30th September – finalists will be announced in mid-November and receive a complimentary invitation to the awards ceremony which will for part of the Guild’s annual Gala Dinner at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall in December.
