72% of the 380 vehicles arising from rental agreements were tendered. The second edition of BCAuto Enchères’ annual Leasing Day event once again pleased the managers of the second-hand vehicle auction house. Nearly a hundred people came together at the meeting held on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
In fact, around 120 professional buyers traveled to Issy-les-Moulineaux (92) not only to come and bid on plots, but above all to meet business providers. In addition to these guests in the hall, 425 more professionals were connected to the auction platform throughout the day. 44% of second-hand vehicles are a population that contributes to exports.
BCAuto Enchères called on its usual partners, including short- and long-term rental companies, manufacturers, subsidiaries and banks, to supply cars and commercial vehicles to the Leasing Day area. Companies wishing to optimize the remarketing of first-hand second-hand products with recoverable VAT.
In a sign of the times, almost 30% of all vehicles offered were HEV/PHEV examples and around 20% were electric cars. The latter achieved a better performance as 90% of the lots were sold. “This confirms that there is a really strong demand for electric cars,” says Edgar Chauveau, commercial director responsible for demand.
EV price inflation
More generally, Edgar Chauveau observes that the share of electric cars in sales to French distributors has increased from “2% to 3%”. The executive analyzes that growth is limited by “accelerating competition from foreign buyers who still see our market as a competitive source of supply.”
A competition that has caused prices to rise since March. Auction amounts for electric vehicles increased by 12 to 15%, according to data compiled by BCAuto Enchères.
The boom in electric cars also affects the organization of activities. Faced with the influx of examples and pressure from buyers, BCAuto Enchères decided to host a weekly auction dedicated to electric cars from spring 2026. “On average, these operations record a reward rate of 92%,” says the commercial co-director.
But the market is not turning its back on fossil fuels. Second-hand cars with diesel engines would find a market in Eastern Europe. This is much better for the bidder, as energy (30%) still represents the second largest VO flow from lessees, behind gasoline cars (40%). HEV/PHEV (20%) and electric (10%) are biding their time.
A growing semester
Demand has also improved as buyers come to the theater for specific purposes. “They monitor stock rotations more to avoid further trouble. In fact, they participate in auctions to meet open orders from consumers, rather to create stock to remarket,” notes Edgar Chauveau.
The first half of BCAuto Enchères should end on a very positive note. There will be little change in the average price compared to previous periods, but the auction house expects a 3-4 percent increase in the number of auctions. The fact that we added a discount on Sunday will definitely contribute to this breakthrough.
