Mercedes without a hitch In terms of reliability, even on its third and final day of Shakedown in Barcelona, Mercedes is continuing to add kilometres, and only in the morning with Andrea Kimi Antonelli added 90 laps to the 332 that it had covered between Monday and Wednesday (149 on the first day and 183 on the second).
The Italian lapped in 1’17.0, best time in the morning, then beaten in the afternoon by teammate George Russell. Antonelli’s comment In the statements reported by Sky Sports UK, Andrea Kimi Antonelli summed up his Thursday on the track as follows: “I think it was an excellent Shakedown. We did a lot of laps, 90 today, so an excellent mileage for the team. I’m happy because I learned a lot about the car and I can’t wait to drive it in Bahrain”. Regarding the program carried out and whether or not he carried out qualifying simulations, Antonelli explained: “We maintained a very similar approach to that of yesterday, because the objective was long runs. We tried different modes just to better understand the use and behavior of the battery. Today we focused more on the soft tyres, even in the long runs, to see how the car and the engine responded to cornering speeds. It was very interesting.”
Antonelli: “Excellent shakedown, I can’t wait for the Bahrain tests”
