BYD continued its growth in the UK market in the first half of 2026 without slowing down. While the brand achieved its most successful first half performance to date with the sales of 37 thousand 995 new vehicles in the January-June period, it also maintained its leadership in the new energy vehicles segment.
Operating in the new energy vehicle market, which includes fully electric and rechargeable hybrid models, BYD reached a market share of 8.74 percent at the end of the first six months. The brand continued its rise in the UK by increasing its sales by 95 percent in the same period compared to the first half of last year.
In June, BYD’s sales in the UK reached 6 thousand 242 units, and the brand achieved an overall market share of 2.93 percent.
The most remarkable performance on a model basis was the SEAL U DM-i, which uses Super Hybrid DM technology. The SUV model, developed for family use, continued to be both BYD’s most preferred model in the UK and the country’s best-selling plug-in hybrid car.
BYD’s hybrid product range continues to expand. The recently launched SEALION 5 DM-i and the ATTO 2 DM-i models in the compact SUV segment bring the brand’s Super Hybrid DM technology to a wider user base. Among the fully electric models, the SEAL sedan, renewed for 2026, is BYD’s most preferred electric car in the UK.
While evaluating the first half performance, BYD UK Deputy General Manager Steve Beattie stated that the dealer network had an important share in the success achieved. Beattie announced that they will open more sales points in the second half of the year and expand their product range with three new models.
The brand is preparing to launch the DOLPHIN G city car, seven-seat Ti 7 SUV and SHARK pick-up model in the UK market in the coming period. All new models will be equipped with BYD’s Super Hybrid DM technology.
In the UK market, where demand for electric and hybrid vehicles is rapidly increasing, BYD aims to continue its growth in the second half of 2026 with its expanding product range, growing dealer network and new model offensive.
