The Dutchman’s words on the eve of Melbourne
Max Verstappen a year ago the season still started with the number #1 on the nose. This year however he will debut with the #3 and he doesn’t think he has much hope of returning to aiming for the #1 although Red Bull has done an excellent job especially with regards to the power unit.
“I think that to be at the front we need to find a little more speedbut it’s something I planned for and regarding the tests we couldn’t have hoped for them to go any better”said the four-time world champion on the eve of the Australian GP.
When asked if the 2026 cars are more complicated to drive and with more parameters to keep under control, Verstappen responded like this: “There are things you only discover in the race, it has always been like this in F1 and in any case we drivers have always trained in our careers to seek the limit of every vehicle that is made available to us. I would reach the limit even with a shopping cart and these cars always have a steering wheel, accelerator, brake and clutch, the best will emerge.”
