This March, Sporting Bears Motor Club is set to hit an extraordinary landmark: raising over £4 million for children’s charities across the UK. The announcement will take place at the Practical Classics Restoration Show at the NEC in Birmingham, running from 20-22 March, with a truly spectacular display.
Patron and television presenter Mike Brewer will mark the milestone by counting down on a super-size Sporting Bears speedometer, surrounded by a fleet of cars flashing their headlights and honking their horns. Brewer will make the announcement at mid-day on both Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March at the Sporting Bears stand in Hall 5, promising a moment of celebration that reflects the passion behind the club.
“Raising £4 million is an absolutely phenomenal achievement,” Brewer said. “What makes Sporting Bears so special is that it’s powered entirely by volunteers who give their time, their cars, and their passion to help children. It proves that cars can do far more than turn heads – they can genuinely change lives.”
Since its formation in 1989, Sporting Bears has provided more than 85,000 Dream Rides. Every penny raised has gone directly to supporting over 400 children’s charities nationwide. The club is best known for its presence at major car events, including the NEC classic car shows, Carfest, and The British Motor Show, while also taking part in over 60 additional events each year, bringing unforgettable experiences to thousands of enthusiasts.

Clare Stephens, PR and social media lead for Sporting Bears, reflected on the milestone: “Reaching £4 million is a hugely proud moment for everyone involved with Sporting Bears Motor Club. Every Dream Ride represents generosity from our members and supporters, and every mile driven helps to make a real difference to children and families across the UK.
“The money we raise supports a wide range of causes, including bereavement counselling, making dreams come true for children who are terminally ill, and hospice sleepover experiences, among many others. Hitting this milestone has motivated our members enormously, and we’re hopeful that 2026 will be our best season yet.”
Sporting Bears offers car enthusiasts the chance to take part in unforgettable passenger experiences, known as Dream Rides, in a remarkable mix of supercars, classic vehicles, quirky film cars, and sports cars.
