LOS ANGELES – Singer Vehicle Design, the California-based luxury specialist celebrated for restoring and reimagining classic Porsche 911s, has unveiled its latest offering: the Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet Reimagined. Limited to just 75 commissions, this program transforms the iconic Type 964 Carrera Cabriolet into a high-performance, open-roof sports car that balances craftsmanship, personalization, and cutting-edge engineering.
A Tribute to Heritage, Reborn for Today
Inspired by the rare wide-body Carrera Cabriolet of the 1980s, Singer’s new services celebrate the 911’s most sporting and charismatic variant. “The sporting nature of the Carrera led us to reappraise the period roof mechanism to reduce weight and enable a sleek profile with the roof raised or lowered,” explains Rob Dickinson, Singer’s Founder and Creative Director. Each car is restored around the original Type 964 monocoque, strengthened for improved rigidity, and reimagined with lightweight carbon fibre bodywork.
The restoration also allows owners to choose between period styling cues, including the choice of a whale tail rear wing or a fixed or speed-activated alternative, preserving the open-air driving spirit while enhancing aerodynamic performance.
Engineering Excellence at Its Core
At the heart of the 911 Carrera Cabriolet Reimagined is a 4.0-litre, naturally aspirated flat-six, delivering 420 horsepower. Developed in collaboration with Cosworth, the engine incorporates multiple firsts for Singer: variable valve timing, water-cooled cylinder heads paired with air-cooled cylinders, and an electrically powered fan. Capable of revving past 8,000 rpm, the flat-six is coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive, giving drivers a visceral, high-revving experience that pays homage to the 964’s legendary driving dynamics.
“The engine brings together our learnings from the past fifteen years and can now be heard more clearly than ever,” says Dickinson. Mazen Fawaz, Singer’s Chief Strategy Officer, adds, “We’ve used the rare 1980s wide-bodied Carrera Cabriolet as inspiration for a naturally aspirated flat-six with the driving dynamics and standards of execution Singer is known for.”
Dynamic Control Meets Contemporary Safety
Performance is further enhanced by four-way, electronically adjustable dampers, a nose-lift system, carbon ceramic brakes, and Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, all managed through selectable drive modes including Road, Sport, Track, Off, and Weather. Bosch-developed ABS, traction control, and electronic stability systems are integrated discreetly, allowing the driver full control while maintaining confidence in modern driving conditions.

Open-Air Luxury and Bespoke Interiors
Singer has reimagined the cabin with the same attention to detail applied to the mechanics. Owners can personalize materials, leather, and finishes to their tastes, with options including lightweight sports or track seats, stitched and burnished leather seams, and hand-built gauges. Discreet technology, including navigation and CarPlay connectivity, complements the tactile, driver-focused environment without compromising the cabin’s classic character.
Two recent commissions illustrate the breadth of personalization possible: one featuring touring-focused bodywork in Pacific Blue with velvet-corduroy seats, and another in Guards Red emphasizing a sportier setup with Interferenza cloth and lightweight track seats. Owners may even choose to swap front and rear bodywork configurations with a bespoke flight case, offering ultimate versatility.
Proven Through Testing and Global Support
Each Singer restoration undergoes rigorous evaluation, with test cars covering thousands of miles across renowned proving grounds such as Millbrook in the UK, IDIADA in Spain, Nardo in Italy, and the Nürburgring in Germany. TÜV certification ensures every car meets stringent quality and safety standards. Owners benefit from support through Singer’s Global Partner Network, offering local expertise across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australasia.
A Bespoke Masterpiece
The Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet Reimagined by Singer is more than a restored sports car—it is a personal statement, engineered to the exacting standards of its owner while celebrating Porsche’s open-top heritage. With only 75 cars available, Singer’s latest services represent the ultimate blend of beauty, performance, and exclusivity in the world of bespoke automotive craftsmanship.
