The story of the three days Speaking to F1 TV, Charles Leclerc gave a summary of the sensations he felt on the track during the three days of the Barcelona Shakedown: “The debut was difficult because driving in the wet in those conditions was complicated, especially with a completely new car and systems. Making sure that everything worked in those conditions was very difficult, but I think it was a very positive and valuable experience for the future, especially for when we have to drive in the wet on a race weekend.
The other two days were positive. We have done all the tests that we wanted to do and that we had in mind.” Testa already working for Bahrain. Leclerc’s words reflect absolute prudence: “In Ferrari and in the paddock there is a lot of excitement due to the many changes that we drivers have to adapt to and try to find the way to maximize the whole new package, especially on energy management. We are still really at the beginning, I want to see what we will learn in Bahrain and I intend to continue to focus on our work.” The first tests in Bahrain are scheduled for 11 to 13 February: “Next week in Maranello will be full, because we will work on the analysis of the data from Barcelona and we will do a lot of simulator work to prepare for Bahrain. We will do a couple of tests and the most important part will be the correlation: now that we have driven the real car, we will go to the simulator to compare the data and try to make it as similar as possible to that collected in Barcelona. Only in this way will we be able to focus on Bahrain, knowing we have a good reference in the simulator,” concluded Leclerc.
Leclerc: “We are focused on ourselves. Now the correlation between simulator and track will be fundamental”
