Williams’ 2026 is off to a decidedly uphill start. The Grove team was looking forward to this season to get even closer to the top positions after an excellent fifth place in the last Constructors’ World Championship; instead the English team was even forced to skip the closed-door tests in Barcelona due to “delays in the FW48 project”. Rumors have reported that James Vowles’ team car would not have initially passed the FIA crash tests, forcing the team to abandon the trip to Spain. Now new rumors emerge which do not seem encouraging for the historic team founded by Frank Williams. In fact, according to what was revealed by journalist Thomas Maher, the British team has changed the ‘type’ of the presentation event of the new car, scheduled for February 3rd. Originally the new FW48 was supposed to be concretely revealed with its own new livery; now the event has been transformed into an online presentation. Not an encouraging sign. The hope at this point is that the car will be ready at least by February 11th, when the first of the two ‘real’ test sessions in Bahrain will begin.
