Red Bull between past and future The season of revolution in F1 technical regulations begins for Red Bull with the first substantial change of livery after ten years of great continuity (albeit with some exceptions in the numerous special colors shown along the way). A novelty that has been long awaited by fans, which is both a way to look to the future, but also an opportunity to wink at the past of the Milton Keynes team: if, on the one hand, the reference to the blue of Ford is clear, which is the commercial and technical partner with which Red Bull takes this new path as a manufacturer (also) of power units, on the other hand the reference to the colors of its debut in Formula 1 is evident. Laurent Mekies’ pride “Seeing the new livery for the first time – explains Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies, at his first presentation as a big boss after the surprising change with Christian Horner last summer – is one of those special moments that makes you feel excited for the new season. This is a new and significant era for the sport as a whole and for us as a team. We wanted our livery to reflect this, but also to be a tribute to the Red Bull’s beginnings. This livery was designed to celebrate the spirit of our early days and, in the year that a Red Bull Racing will race with a Red Bull Ford Powertrains powertrain for the first time, it seemed fitting to reflect some of our history in the colourway.” “It was incredible to unveil the livery here in Detroit – adds the French engineer and manager – at the Ford headquarters. The car is stunning, we wanted to give it a special touch with the shine for this new chapter and we hope the fans like it. The team has done an incredible job to be here today and to be able to participate in the shakedown in Barcelona (scheduled for January 26th to 30th, behind closed doors, ed.) with our car and our engine for the first time ever. This is the result of the efforts of 2000 people at the Technology Campus, the most talented group you can find, who have worked together to bring us to this moment. It’s the start of an extremely exciting journey for all of us and we will take to the track as one team, with one chassis and one Red Bull F1 powertrain.”
