Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Wayve announced that they have signed definitive agreements to integrate the next generation ProPILOT series with Wayve AI (artificial intelligence) technology into a wide range of Nissan vehicles. This partnership will support both ADAS and point-to-point advanced driving by combining Wayve’s embodied AI software with Nissan’s advanced driver assistance systems.
Nissan introduced ProPILOT for single-lane highway assistance in 2016 and introduced ProPILOT 2.0 in 2019, adding multi-lane assist and hands-free functionality. These features are now available in many models to meet various customer needs. Based on this foundation, Nissan is developing the next generation ProPILOT integrated with Wayve AI. In September 2025, Nissan unveiled a prototype that integrates “Wayve AI Driver,” Wayve’s cutting-edge embodied AI software, with “Ground Truth Perception” technology using Nissan’s next-generation LiDAR technology. This prototype demonstrated that it provides smooth and safe driving assistance on highways and complex urban environments.
Within the scope of the new agreement, Nissan and Wayve will integrate the “Wayve AI Driver” into the new generation ProPILOT series and make it available for use in mass production vehicles. Using Wayve’s AI technology, Nissan aims to further enhance ProPILOT’s functionality and convenience and deliver advanced systems to global markets, including Japan and North America, to meet diverse customer needs. Nissan plans to launch the first model equipped with this new generation ProPILOT in Japan in fiscal 2027.

This agreement represents a significant advancement for both companies. Nissan is the first automaker to commit to using Wayve AI systems at scale across a wide range of vehicle segments. Building on security, Wayve’s end-to-end embodied AI will be able to efficiently adapt to new cities and vehicle platforms with minimal additional development. When combined with the ProPILOT series, Wayne AI will deliver intelligent driving across many vehicle segments with a variety of sensor configurations including cameras, radar and LiDAR.
Implementing the system into production vehicles will enable Nissan and Wayve to learn from a variety of real-world driving conditions, enabling continuous improvement and strengthening the long-term competitiveness of Nissan’s intelligent driving technologies.
