Nissan Technical Center Europe has announced a partnership with Sonatus, a US-based vehicle software innovator. The goal of this collaboration is to accelerate the vehicle development process by leveraging artificial intelligence to improve analytics and diagnostics. Through the implementation of Collector AI and Sonatus AI Technician, Nissan engineers in Cranfield, UK, can now collect and analyze on-board data in real time, integrating information ranging from sensors to electronic control units and diagnostic tools. Nissan, agreement with Sonatus These AI tools are designed to automatically detect irregularities and potential failures, providing critical information that supports faster and more accurate decisions of technicians. Although the technology is still in development, early tests have shown promising results, significantly reducing investigation times on test vehicles from two weeks to just two days. This advancement not only improves operational efficiency, but also aligns with Nissan’s recovery plan, Re:Nissan, which aims to reduce development times and foster innovations. Focus on AI AI tools become central to Nissan’s testing program, with the collaborative approach with Sonatus and other suppliers aimed at integrating intelligent testing programs. An approach that will also apply to future models, such as the new LEAF and JUKE. Additionally, Nissan and Sonatus will present live demonstrations of their data collection and diagnostic technologies at CES 2026, an event taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center from January 6-9.
