Tesla discontinued the rear-wheel-drive Cybertruck Long Range after only 173 sales. A new dual-motor version starts at $59,990 for 2026.
Tesla has discontinued the rear-wheel-drive Cybertruck Long Range just five months after sales began. Only 173 units were sold, according to information that emerged during a service campaign affecting this specific variant with 18-inch steel wheels. That unique feature made it easy to track sales volume. The model came with a simpler specification compared to the pricier all-wheel-drive version. Priced at around $69,990, it lacked air suspension, bed outlets, a cargo cover, and extra storage space. The price gap with the better-equipped version was roughly $10,000.After ending production in September 2025, Tesla introduced an updated dual-motor version. It offers more features and a lower starting price of about $59,990, with deliveries scheduled for 2026–2027.The Cybertruck RWD situation shows that a bare-bones trim at a high price can hurt demand.
