After Adami During the 2025 season there were numerous situations in which Lewis Hamilton and his race engineer Riccardo Adami seemed to have a less than perfect feeling, so much so that the question of the relationship between the two periodically came back into vogue.
For example, in May after the Monte Carlo race the English champion was asked about the lame communication between the two and Hamilton had branded everything as “asshole”, ensuring that there was an “excellent relationship” between the two. Yesterday, January 16, Ferrari announced that Riccardo Adami has been moved to another position and will no longer be Lewis Hamilton’s track engineer. The announcement seemed to be in continuity with what was mentioned by team principal Frederic Vasseur, who at the Christmas lunch in Maranello had explained that he was “evaluating all options” regarding the continuation of the working relationship between Adami and Hamilton. Who after Adami? It certainly won’t be Peter Bonnington “Bono”, Hamilton’s historic track engineer at Mercedes between 2013 and 2024: “No chance”, according to what was gathered by the Daily Mail. Bonnington will continue to work alongside Andrea Kimi Antonelli, as he did last year.
One candidacy, the most logical and natural, is that of Luca Diella, indicated in pole position by the Gazzetta dello Sport. Diella worked from 2019 until 2025 at Mercedes (as a performance engineer), last February he joined Ferrari, who chose him as Lewis Hamilton’s performance engineer starting from July.
His path could follow that of Bryan Bozzi, previously Leclerc’s first performance engineer and then becoming his race engineer from May 2024.
Engineer Hamilton, according to the Gazzetta, Luca Diella is on pole
