Vehicle Inspections Play a Key Role in Road Safety

Çok Okunanlar
Vehicle inspections play an important role in determining whether vehicles on the road meet essential technical requirements. TÜVTÜRK reminds vehicle owners not to delay their inspection dates and to check their vehicles’ basic safety components before bringing them in for inspection.
TÜVTÜRK, which provides periodic vehicle inspection services across Türkiye, emphasizes that regular inspections are one of the fundamental elements of vehicle and road safety. During inspections, technical components that directly affect vehicle and road safety are examined, helping identify deficiencies and ensuring that necessary measures can be taken. Simple checks that vehicle owners can carry out before an inspection can also help identify potential issues in advance.
Check Your Vehicle Before the Inspection
Tyre pressure and overall tyre condition, lighting systems, windows and mirrors, and windscreen wipers are among the main areas vehicle owners can check before an inspection. Unusual noises, vibrations or pulling during braking should not be ignored, while warning and malfunction lights on the instrument panel should also be taken seriously.
Ensuring that essential equipment such as a first-aid kit, fire extinguisher and warning triangle is properly kept in the vehicle in accordance with applicable regulations is also an important part of preparing for the inspection.
Lighting and Brake System Defects Stand Out in Inspections
According to TÜVTÜRK’s inspection data for a one-year period, deficiencies related particularly to lighting and braking systems are among the most frequently encountered defects. Brake-related issues such as imbalances in rear service brake performance and insufficient parking brake effectiveness are commonly identified. Other frequently detected defects include incorrect dipped-beam headlight adjustment, brake lights that are partially or completely inoperative, and reversing lights that fail to function properly.
The absence of a valid exhaust emissions measurement is another significant deficiency encountered during inspections. Aftermarket LED bulbs that do not comply with applicable standards are also considered among the factors that may negatively affect driving safety.
TÜVTÜRK points out that such technical deficiencies, which may go unnoticed or be perceived as minor during everyday use, can affect driving safety. The organisation therefore recommends that vehicles undergo regular maintenance and checks.
Seemingly Minor Deficiencies Can Affect Safety
Vehicle inspections can reveal issues involving tyres, braking systems, lighting and equipment that affects visibility. Technical problems that go unnoticed or are overlooked during everyday driving can pose risks to road safety.
For this reason, TÜVTÜRK recommends that vehicle maintenance and checks be carried out regularly, rather than only when the inspection period approaches, and that identified technical problems should not be neglected.
Vehicle inspection appointments can be made free of charge through TÜVTÜRK’s official website, the 0850 222 88 88 call centre, inspection station kiosks or the e-Government (e-Devlet) portal.
