BYD SEAL U DM-i won two awards at the Autotrader Drivers’ Choice Awards 2026, named Best Value New Car, and was also awarded first place in the Best In-Car Technology category.
While the winners of many auto awards are determined by expert car reviewers, the Autotrader Drivers’ Choice Awards are different in that they are judged by the people whose opinions matter most: car owners. This year more than 160,000 British car owners completed an online survey sharing exactly what they think of their cars, with their thoughts and opinions (derived from real-world experience) determining the winners of 20 of this year’s 24 award categories.
On receiving the award, BYD UK Deputy Country Manager Steve Beattie said: “It is a great privilege to accept both awards for the SEAL U DM-i and the fact that they are given by the people who buy and live with our cars makes it even more special. I would like to thank Autotrader and its readers, as well as all the BYD retailers and internal team who make the ownership experience such a pleasure for our customers. Most importantly, I would like to thank BYD owners for telling Autotrader how highly they rate their cars.”
Autotrader’s YouTube Director, Rory Reid, said: “The BYD Seal U has stood out to owners for providing strong overall value, combining a highly efficient hybrid powertrain with a generous level of standard equipment. It’s clear from feedback that drivers feel they’re getting great value for their money.”

Arriving in 2024, the SEAL U DM-i was the fourth car to join the BYD UK range and the first to introduce BYD’s Dual Mode smart technology. It has become the best-selling vehicle in the BYD model range since 2026.
