Compare Hyundai Creta King and Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus Sport specs, features, safety, powertrains, and price. Find out which crossover SUV is better equipped.
ExteriorThe Hyundai and VW crossovers are nearly identical in appearance. Both feature LED headlights and taillights, power-adjustable side mirrors, roof rails, rain-sensing wipers, and keyless entry. Unlike many competitors, neither model includes front fog lights or a power-operated tailgate. The main difference lies in wheel size: the Creta King rides on 18-inch alloys, while the Taigun GT Plus Sport uses 17-inch wheels.InteriorThe top-spec Creta clearly leads in cabin features. It offers a larger touchscreen, an additional wireless charging pad on the rear console, and an eight-speaker audio system. It also includes a ‘Boss mode’ and a fold-out tray table on the back of the front seat. The Taigun holds an advantage in one area: wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, whereas the Creta requires an adapter.Otherwise, both crossovers are practically identical. They share a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, rear AC vents, power-adjustable and ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, and cruise control.SafetyThe Creta surpasses the Taigun in safety tech, thanks to a Level 2 ADAS suite and a 360-degree camera—features the VW lacks. Volkswagen relies solely on a rearview camera. Still, both top-trim models are well-equipped with six airbags, disc brakes, ABS with EBD, hill-start assist, and electronic stability control. In Global NCAP crash tests, pre-facelift models of both were assessed: the VW SUV earned five stars, while the Hyundai received three.PowertrainsThe Creta King is the more versatile choice when it comes to powertrain options. While the Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus Sport comes exclusively with a 1.5-liter TSI engine paired to a 7-speed DCT, the Creta King offers every engine and transmission combination available in the SUV’s lineup. This includes naturally aspirated petrol, turbo-petrol, and diesel units. Comparing the turbo-petrol engines specifically, the Creta’s 1.5-liter unit produces 160 horsepower—10 hp more than the VW’s. However, both engines deliver an identical 250 Nm of torque.Price and VerdictOverall, the Hyundai Creta King’s specification clearly outshines its rival. It boasts larger alloy wheels, a bigger touchscreen, Boss mode, a Level 2 driver-assist system, and a 360-degree camera. This crossover is not only better equipped but also offers a wider range of powertrains, including naturally aspirated petrol and diesel engines with manual or automatic transmissions. Even its turbo-petrol engine is more powerful than the Taigun’s 1.5-liter TSI. In practice, this means the Creta King with the 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine commands a 60,000 rupee premium over the Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus Sport 1.5 TSI in the Indian market. Given its longer features list and greater powertrain variety, it presents a more balanced package overall.
