Appointment on Wednesday for tests in Bahrain F1 is preparing to hold the first test session in Bahrain from Wednesday 11th to Friday 13th February. Mercedes and Ferrari were the most convincing in the Barcelona Shakedown, with Red Bull certainly able to derive satisfaction from the mileage guaranteed by the power unit made in-house with the help of Ford. Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur declared that in Catalonia the Maranello Scuderia completed the entire planned program and that in Bahrain the picture will be more representative in terms of performance. According to Juan Pablo Montoya, Mercedes could have lapped 3-4 seconds faster at Montmelò. There are teams who are more or less ‘accustomed’ to revealing their cards during tests or not, at least this is the thought of Damon Hill: “Ferrari usually pushes in tests, I don’t know if it’s due to the pressure to which the Scuderia is always subjected – said the 1996 world champion guest of the Stay on Track podcast – instead Red Bull is often good at hiding its true potential. In the past there were real specialists in taking the lead in tests, such as Arrows team principal Tom Walkinshaw or Eddie Jordan. In the tests they would ‘shoot’ tempos for the sponsors and then when we started racing they would return to anonymity, I never understood what the point of making figures like that was.”
