Ford and Ford Pro have partnered with Ohme, its new EV home charging partner in Northern Ireland.
As part of the Ford Power Promise, Ford dealers across Northern Ireland will provide complementary Ohme chargers to qualifying customers.
Results from a recent Ford survey of 5,000 drivers across Europe found that 25% of customers feel more uncertainty and complexity when buying an electric car and one out of every eight people find it too difficult to arrange charging at home, so the Ford Power Promise gives drivers peace of mind when switching to new electric vehicle technology, making it easy to charge at home, and save time and money1.
Building on Ohme’s existing partnership with Ford in mainland UK via Octopus Energy, Ohme will provide a full solution including the charger and installation as well as dealer training and support. Based in Cork, Ohme is the UK and Ireland’s largest home EV charging company and the fastest growing EV charging company in Europe.
Lisa Brankin, Managing Director, Ford of Britain and Ireland said: “Switching into an electric vehicle for the first time can be a daunting prospect for some drivers, so Ford have decided to simplify and de-stress the entire ownership experience by launching a one-of-a-kind promise to new electric vehicle buyers. This commitment from Ford, and partnership with Ohme, aims to support our Power Promise and entice new buyers into the exciting world of electric vehicles and stimulate additional demand for our freshest-ever lineup of electric passenger cars and commercial vehicles.”
To charge at home during the Power NI EV Nightshift off-peak tariff (1am–8am) a customer can fully charge a new Puma Gen-E from 0% for £7.53 (17.51p/kWh using a 7.4kW charger) for its over 259 ml range (WLTP).
In addition to free home-charger and standard installation2, the Ford Power Promise entitles customers to:
Eight-year, 100,000 mls high voltage component and battery warranty for peace of mind
Free-of-charge two-year towing and roadside assistance that won’t leave you stranded on the side of the road
Access to more than 860 public charging points via Ford’s BlueOval Charge Network powered by Octopus Electroverse (plus over 80,000 across Great Britain).
Dedicated customer care
David Watson, CEO of Ohme said: “With Ford’s long-standing strong relationship across all of Ireland, this is a collaboration that’s close to home both personally and professionally. With the new Puma Gen-E as well as the Capri, Mustang Mach E and Explorer, plus its electrified commercial vehicle range, Ford has one of the strongest EV line-ups on the market which can now be charged with the best EV home charger on the market.”
Ohme’s dynamic EV chargers use live data from the grid and are compatible with best and most affordable energy tariffs across the island of Ireland. Ohme chargers automatically adjust to optimise the cost of charging and accessing all the times of the smartest, greenest and lowest cost energy tariffs as well as featuring a solar boost function reducing reliance on the grid.
This new partnership with Ford will enable its drivers to take advantage of Ohme’s existing relationships with energy providers across the island of Ireland, where Ohme is the official home EV charging partner for the Energia Group, SSE Airtricity, Power NI and Click NI amongst others.
