McLaren doesn’t stop McLaren already has its sights set on the next championship. Having won the drivers’ title after 17 years does not distract the Woking team, which considering the very short winter break and the hat-trick of shakedowns and tests does not want to waste time: the team will go against tradition and will not “parade” through the streets of Woking to celebrate the World Championship. A spokesperson confirmed this to the BBC. “I’m afraid we won’t be throwing any parties in Woking this time, because the team is very busy preparing for next season,” explained the team papaya spokesperson. In February 2025, a celebration was held in Woking for the Constructors’ title won a few months earlier. A year later, the local community was expecting an encore, also in light of the success of Lando Norris, the 11th Briton in history to become F1 world champion, and the World Drivers’ Championship-Constructors’ World Championship double, which had been missing since 1998. Organizing a party again this year in February would be logistically complex, as the teams will have just returned from the Montmeló shakedown (26-30 January) and will have to analyze a very large amount of data to then plan the first session test in Bahrain (11-13 February). Furthermore, McLaren is the only team that has yet to communicate the presentation date of the 2026 car.
