The ‘competitions’ at auction In recent years several collectors have gone on real sprees to win objects belonging to Michael Schumacher at auction, such as the watches given to the German by former Ferrari Team Principal Jean Todt. Precisely with the house of the Prancing Horse, from 2000 to 2004, the ‘Kaiser’ achieved repeated victories, the same ones that allowed the seven-time world champion to enter the history of F1. Some of these single-seaters, such as the F2001B or the F2003, were also sold at auction for record figures, but Schumacher’s career did not begin at the wheel of a Ferrari; more specifically, at the beginning of the 90s, the German made his debut in F1 with Benetton, a team with which he subsequently won two world titles before moving to Ferrari in 1996. After his debut in Belgium in 1991 at the wheel of the B191 (a car also auctioned in 2025), Schumacher won his first GP at Spa-Francorchamps in 1992, then at the wheel of Benetton B192-05. The car of the first victory It will be this single-seater, almost 34 years after that success, that will once again return under the eyes of global enthusiasts, once again on the occasion of an online auction, scheduled from 23 to 30 January. The car will be part of the “Global Icons: Europe” series of the Broad Arrow auction house, with the value of the Renault-powered Benetton estimated at around 8,500,000 euros. Remaining at the Renault headquarters in Enstone after the acquisition of Benetton, the car was later taken over by Laurent Redon (specialist in the management of Formula 1 single-seaters from the 1990s and 2000s) in 2015, who took care of the management of the engine, chassis and manual gearbox. In addition to the car, other pieces belonging to the German driver will also be on sale, such as his helmet used in 1994, complete with autograph, the 1995 suit and a replica of the Benetton steering wheel, also dating back to 1995.
