Aston Martin tests updated Valhalla hypercar with larger battery. Spied in southern Europe, plug-in hybrid boosts capacity to 8 kWh for 20 km electric range.
Aston Martin has started testing an updated Valhalla hypercar. A prototype was spotted on roads in southern Europe, where the marque is evaluating the car’s technical changes. The main upgrade centres on the plug-in hybrid system’s battery. According to overseas media, Valhalla owners have complained about the rapid depletion of the current 6.1 kWh unit, which limits EV‑only driving to around 15 km on the WLTP cycle.Aston Martin is expected to increase battery capacity to roughly 8 kWh, pushing electric range closer to 20 km. For context, the Mercedes‑AMG ONE uses an 8.4 kWh battery and can travel up to 18 km on a single charge. The Valhalla’s powertrain pairs a twin‑turbo 4.0‑litre V8 with three electric motors, delivering a combined 1,079 hp. The AMG ONE, meanwhile, relies on a V6 and four electric motors, producing 1,063 hp.Just 999 examples of the Aston Martin Valhalla will be built. The company is also known to be working on a more extreme Valhalla AMR variant. For 2026, this remains one of the most advanced sports cars, though Aston Martin has yet to confirm when the updated version will arrive.
