One day after Alpine’s first significant announcement of 2026, which formalized the arrival of Victor Martins in the WEC team, the French team announced another change, this time of a different nature and in the field of Formula 1: the Enstone company and Jack Doohan have in fact decided to mutually terminate the contract. In this way, the Australian son of art will no longer continue his role as third driver, which he had maintained despite an unsatisfactory start to 2025 and without any points scored in the general classification, so much so as to push Alpine to call Franco Colapinto in his place from the Emilia-Romagna GP to Imola: “The BWT Alpine Formula One Team confirms that it has reached a mutual agreement with Jack Doohan not to continue his service as a driver with the team for the season 2026 FIA Formula 1 World Championship and enable him to pursue other career opportunities,” the statement reads, “Jack has become the first member of the Alpine Academy to secure a regular driver seat in the team, making his debut at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The team would like to thank Jack for the commitment and professionalism he has shown over the past four years, both on and off the track, and wishes him the best for the future.” BWT Alpine Formula One Team confirms it has reached a mutual agreement with Jack Doohan to not continue his driving services with the team for the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship season and allow him to pursue other career opportunities.Jack became the first member of… pic.twitter.com/w4VJLjyQyt— BWT Alpine Formula One Team (@AlpineF1Team) January 13, 2026
Son of five-time MotoGP world champion Michael Doohan, the 22-year-old joined the Alpine academy in 2022, and then made his debut in an official GP on the Abu Dhabi circuit in 2024, then replacing Esteban Ocon, who had already reached an agreement with Haas for the following year. Doohan, however, was unable to seize the opportunity to continue in F1, thanks above all to an Alpine A525 brought into the points by Pierre Gasly alone on a few occasions, as demonstrated by the last place in the Constructors’ standings occupied by the transalpine company in the last world championship.
